New-build villas in Altaona Golf & Country Village, on the edge of Murcia.
La Manga & Mar Menor
The Mar Menor is one of Europe's largest saltwater lagoons, separated from the Mediterranean by La Manga, a narrow strip of land some twenty kilometres long with beaches on both sides. The water is warm, shallow and calm, ideal for sailing, kitesurfing and families with children. This is also home to La Manga Club, an internationally known sports and golf resort. Apartments and villas just metres from the beach make this area a favourite among our buyers.
Cabo de Palos
At the southern tip of La Manga lies Cabo de Palos, a former fishing village with a striking lighthouse and a lively harbour. Divers and sailors love it for the protected marine reserve around the Islas Hormigas. The village has a character of its own, with fish restaurants by the harbour and small coves for swimming. A lovely choice for anyone looking for authentic coastal life, right next to the Mar Menor.
San Pedro del Pinatar
San Pedro del Pinatar lies on the northern shore of the Mar Menor, next to the Salinas y Arenales nature park, where you can spot flamingos and other birds among the salt pans. The seaside resort of Lo Pagán is known for its mud baths and a flat promenade along the water. It is a quiet, well-equipped town with supermarkets, restaurants and shops, lively even outside the high season.
San Javier & Santiago de la Ribera
Santiago de la Ribera is a pleasant seaside town on the Mar Menor with a long promenade, jetties in the water and plenty of terraces. In San Javier, the municipal centre, you will find everyday amenities and the Spanish Air Force Academy, whose aerobatic team Patrulla Águila regularly practises over the coast. Sailing clubs and water sports schools are plentiful, and the atmosphere is calm and Spanish.
Los Alcázares
Los Alcázares is a lively seaside town on the western shore of the Mar Menor, with a flat promenade several kilometres long that is ideal for walking and cycling. The shallow, warm water makes it popular with families. The town has a wide range of shops, restaurants and healthcare, and is a favourite among our buyers. Apartments and villas are often within walking distance of the water.
Torre-Pacheco
Torre-Pacheco lies in the fertile Campo de Cartagena, between Murcia and the coast, about a fifteen-minute drive from the Mar Menor. It is quieter and more rural, with smaller villages such as Roldán and golf resorts nearby. A good choice for those who want more space, with the beaches still close by.
Cartagena
Cartagena is the region's main port city, with more than two thousand years of history. You will find a Roman theatre, fortifications on the hills, a lively centre with tapas bars and a museum of underwater archaeology. The city is also a naval base and cruise port. The beaches of Mar de Cristal and La Manga are within half an hour.
La Unión
La Unión is a former mining town a few kilometres from Cartagena. The old mines and the mining park tell the story of the region, and every August the Cante de las Minas flamenco festival draws enthusiasts from all over Spain. An authentic Spanish town, close to Cartagena and the coast.
Mazarrón
Mazarrón consists of the historic town inland and Puerto de Mazarrón by the sea. The coast is rugged and less crowded, with long sandy beaches, small coves and the striking rock formations of Bolnuevo. There is a marina and plenty of fish restaurants. A lovely spot for anyone looking for peace, nature and beach.
Águilas
Águilas lies on the south-western coast of the region, close to the border with Andalusia. A castle stands above the harbour, and the area has wide beaches and still relatively unspoilt coves such as Calabardina and Cabo Cope. Its annual carnival is one of the best known in Spain. The climate is mild and sunny.
Puerto Lumbreras
Puerto Lumbreras lies inland, in the Lorca district, on the A-7 towards Andalusia. It is a quiet municipality with authentic Spanish village life and fewer crowds than on the coast. The city of Lorca with its medieval castle is close by, and you can reach the coast at Águilas in less than an hour.
Fuente Álamo de Murcia
Fuente Álamo lies inland in the Campo de Cartagena, between Murcia, Cartagena and the Mar Menor. It is a quiet municipality with an authentic Spanish character, surrounded by farmland and golf resorts. Via the A-30 you reach Cartagena and the beaches of the Mar Menor in about half an hour, and Corvera airport in around fifteen minutes.
Murcia city and surroundings
Murcia is the capital of the region: a lively university city on the River Segura with an imposing cathedral, a beautiful historic centre and the fertile Huerta, often called the market garden of Europe. There are tapas bars, markets and plenty of culture. Corvera airport is close by and the beaches are within a short hour. On the edge of the city lies Altaona Golf & Country Village, where we currently offer new-build villas.
